I would like to begin with a cheer – “HAPPY NEW YEAR BLOGGING WORLD!” Unfortunately, due to my crazy nurse schedule this year I was not able to spend New Years Eve with my husband and son. I was able to see my mom and her family, which was a surprise! Please share what eventful or uneventful plans you had – no matter how crazy or lack there of – sleeping at midnight is a specialty of mine! I enjoy knowing that we are not alone with the chaos in our lives (although, lucky for us I start a new job right down the road from our house!!) Well enough about this boring small talk, let’s get onto the direction of my blog this year! I will be posting meals, exercise routines, handmade beauty products, relaxation techniques, and a major tab i will be contributing to this year is attire! My husband dislikes when I surf the web, let’s be honest, everyday, for new items to purchase. My new plan is to find the items, not buy them, blog about them, so you can have the joy i would have had after buying said items! I will begin with posting about kids clothes; there will be a wide variety of styles available to look at since no parent or kid has the same style! This being said i will release a list of brands and clothes once a week that are my top picks – you, as readers, are more than welcome to check out the items and other items on the brand’s website. Please, please, please report back!! I would love to know if you like any of the items, if you would like to see more of a certain type, etc. I will find the best deals I can! Essentially the goal of this part is to find the items you want at the price you want, so I will try to deliver both! In the mean time I will begin my list and have something delivered to you this week!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL AND MAY YOU ALL BE BLESSED WITH GOOD HEALTH AND SERENITY !!!!!!
It was supposed to be a rainy day today. Woke up, sun is out! IT IS GOING TO BE A GREAT DAY. We have the doors open, listening to John Cougar Mellencamp, rolling around on the floor, playing with baby toys and taking in some fresh spring air! What relaxing things do you like to do with your kids and/ or family as the outside temperature starts to warm up?
Last night we made a last minute executive decision to go to our local fave mexican joint – we are valued customers at this point thanks to their booths and loud music to drain out any potential meltdowns at the dinner table. After some delicious fajitas I decided to workout. I wasn’t sure if my stomach was going to make it through; I surprised myself. I was happy I got in a night sweat before heading to bed. My husband kindly gave our son a bath and I did a combination workout. Below are four videos, you can do them in any combination – each workout is approximately 30 minutes. I did #2 and #4 last night. Switch em up and you won’t get bored. There are so many different movements the routines go by so fast you will have no idea you’ve already blown through one of the workouts by the time it’s done!
However, I do not take her post workout two scoops of protein powder in water recommendation. I am not a fan of protein powders, they are loaded with crap! If you want to make a shake (using egg whites ONLY powder) make sure it’s a meal replacement or a low-cal snack, you can quickly gain weight by having a protein packed drink after your workouts. Here is a healthy green shake you could enjoy before or after a workout – I enjoyed this for lunch the other day, scrumptious!
These recipes make two 16 ounce servings – I cut them in half.
KEY LIME (page 157)
2 frozen bananas
1 cup coconut ice
3 tbsp unsweetened coconut flakes
2 tsp fresh lime zest
1/3 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
2 tbsp hemp seeds
1 tbsp ground flaxseed powder
1/4 tsp camu powder
1/4 tsp spirulina powder
1 tbsp lucuma powder
1 cup coconut milk
1/2 cup water
blend together in the nutribullet
ROSEMARY ORANGE (page 99)
1/4 cup dried white mulberries
1/4 cup raw cashews
3 cups baby spinach
2 tbsp mashed avocado
1 tsp orange zest
1.5 tsp minced fresh rosemary
1.5 cups orange juice
2 cups ice
blend together in the nutribullet
As you will notice the minimal amount of avocado makes a smoothie smooth, thick and creamy. It was shocking to see how just a tablespoon or two can take away the icey texture of a smoothie.

NOM NOM NOMaste y’all! Happy Friday!
Here are some quick workouts that will get your heart going and your glands sweating! Lately I have not been motivated to go to the gym, I have wanted to stay home and workout. Along with the rest of America, I view the gym as an oasis during the short cold winter days. When the sun stays out later I want to get my workout in quickly so I can relax outside after instead of driving there and back. I do miss sitting in the sauna…. tomorrow I will get there!

Get ready to kill it with this heart pumping work-out! I did the video below for four rounds it was a great sweat. If you can add more reps, GO FOR IT!!! I could only do that many as the baby was only amused with me jumping around while he rolled around on the carpet for that amount of time. He even tried doing some “laying jacks” !
Rainy day here, probably will end up doing another work-out at home since we have family in town. It has been hard getting motivation to do home exercises, but once I am done… WOW I feel amazing! If you are procrastinating or have “time anxiety” and watch the clock until you know it is time to do your work-out, just let it all go and go do it. I sometimes find myself saying oh let me eat this and then digest and then I will work-out, but the reality is that I just want to be lazy right now! AND, that is perfectly FINE! No one says you have to work-out at a specific time. Go be lazy! Except, while you’re laying on the couch enjoying your down time don’t watch the clock and dwell on the dreaded workout that is yet to come. Just enjoy the moments and then pick yourself up and pump up your heart rate! With that being said I need to find a workout and take some of my own advice!!

Every “wholesome foods” blogger I am sure posted a green juice (or smoothie or whatever you want to call this liquid drank). I cannot say I didn’t enjoy one of these delicious energy packed drinks on this special day. I just didn’t want to overwhelm readers with another recipe you will take a screen shot of to make at a later point. You know you never will sift through your archived photos because you have too many faves to try over your lifetime! No liquid greens today; I promise I will make this post as sugary as possible.
The chocolate chip cookies, featured below, are made using a recipe from the book Paleo Cookies By: John Chatham. My husband kindly ate the entire batch one fine evening. He asks me every night, no exaggeration, to make these again. If you want lots of praise for your baking, make these for your loved ones!! They are very soft and moist; they melt in your mouth!
These Almond Butter Brownies are a specialty of Food Babe, a long-time respected blogger! I tried the water + flax egg replacement option and I think I needed to adjust the cooking time. The brownies it not come out of the oven looking raw and mushy (like the middle photo, pre-baking). The batter tasted delicious I could’ve eaten a bowl of it with a spoon while watching an episode of Girls. I did enjoy the flavor; next time I baked these paleo brownies I will try using an egg and see if there is a difference in the texture.
Get a nice sugar rush and run around with your kid(s) – they will think you are hilarious!
Enjoy the warm weather coming our way 🙂

Let’s start off with filling our belly with some food. Here are two Costco faves. The red peppers make an appearance again. They have a little olive oil drizzled on top with some herbs de provence sprinkled a top. These veggies are paired with a few slices of OLLI sopressata. This is a quick, easy lunch that can be followed with a guilt-free dessert since this is a carb free meal.
and your liquid treat:
Hard ciders are gluten-free most of the time. My husband noticed there were more than just apple ciders at the grocery store. I could decide between the pear, raspberry and blackberry… I chose the pear to try first, and I was more than pleased with my selection! I highly recommend this delicious treat after a low-carb meal. Why not indulge every now and then! Additionally, the pear hard cider has less cals than the traditional apple ciders.
Let’s get onto the good stuff…
WHOOP-PIES! What is better than baking when the weather is sub-par?!?!?? ummm, nothing! I decided to double-up and make two batches, my husband really is loving the fully stocked refrigerator with desserts. These two recipes are from John Catham’s book: Paleo Cookies. The modifications I made for each of these are as follows…
chocolate: use carob powder instead of cocoa powder
vanilla: use maple syrup instead of honey for the cake & filling
add palm shortening into the filing to make it creamier if the butter separates
This is a lovely afternoon snack, or a breakfast on-the-go. I have eaten one of these for breakfast twice this past week as I have had early morning doctors’ appointments to attend. I follow one of these bars with a liter of water spiked with fulvic acid (7-14 drops) – I will post the brand I have purchased in the hydration section! I am in love with this product, it really helps your cells quickly absorb nutrients & water.
Looks like today will be SUNNY!!! Rain, Rain, Go Away!!

I wanted to start off with introducing the cookbooks I am currently using:

Smoothie recipe below…

These wonderful chocolate donuts are from Elana’s Pantry, she has some wonderful paleo recipes in her book! I highly recommend making these delicious treats, I did make a substitution: instead of cocoa powder I used carob powder. And, I still found the wonderful rich chocolate flavor in these donuts. Gotta run to the gym before picking up the little one. I will have some more treats for you tomorrow!!
